Dr. Marie Amato, DACM

Founder of Westchester Acupuncture, PLLC

Marie is a New York licensed acupuncturist and a National Board Certified Chinese herbalist. She earned her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College and a Master’s in Oriental Medicine from Touro College’s Graduate Program in Oriental Medicine. Marie has had the good fortune to work alongside some of the most gifted and accomplished acupuncturists at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. During this time, she worked in Neurologic & Orthopedic Rehabilitation, Oncology, and Labor & Delivery where she treated women during labor to assist in delivery and reducing pain.

Before focusing her studies on Chinese medicine, Marie earned her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Fordham University and her first Master’s degree in Molecular Biology from Northeastern University. Her research focused on the viability of preimplantation embryos. This unique research experience allows Marie to blend her biomedical research background in infertility and assisted reproductive technologies with her traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture practice. This east meets west approach has proven to be a valuable asset in assisting couples trying to conceive.

Marie has pursued additional studies in Jikiden Reiki and Pranic Healing. She is certified in facial rejuvenation acupuncture and has completed post graduate studies in oncology acupuncture at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Marie is a member of the state and national professional acupuncture organizations ASNY, ASA and NCCAOM.

It is Marie’s desire to share her great admiration for Chinese medicine by providing the best possible healthcare to her patients. Marie encourages all her patients to take an active role in their healing process and to work toward achieving optimal health through preventative care. She readily consults with her patient’s various healthcare professionals to discuss their comprehensive biomedical and alternative medicine treatment plans.
